Our Pitch

Pitch A: Two cop bestfriends go on a vacation to catch a drug dealing man, little do they know the true hidden secrets of the island.

Pitch B: Two girls discover an abandoned hotel, they get trapped and have no idea what they got themselves into.

Explanation on pitch A: My partner Ella and I were discussing what ideas we could do only having two people in our group. Ella came up with this idea because it was very easily accessible for us since we live in Florida, and can easily portray an island scene. We discussed also to bring Ella's boyfriend into our film, he would play the part of the drug dealer. Also, one of my classes has easy access to lots of filming cameras and tripods so that we would have easier ways to film. We also might ask for some help along the way from our fellow classmates. Ella and I would play the main characters as the best friends, traveling to this island on an undercover mission to catch the drug dealer. We would use our local beach to film at and some classmates to be background characters.

Explanation on pitch B: When Ella and I were younger we were obsessed with movies that bring us to the edge of our seat, so as soon as we grew up and had the opportunity to make a film for one, we jumped on the opportunity. This film would be very fun to make because we know an actual abandoned pier that we could film at. I have been there before and have had experience in the areas around this abandoned building. The pier would be a fantastic setting to choose because it is very scary and with the equipment we will have, it’ll be amazing to film with. Ella and I would be the main characters who are the victims in the film, the “hotel” will be haunted and in the movie we will have trouble finding our way out. With everything locked and all lights out pitch black, the viewers of our film will love the panic and fear that’s expressed through the movie. This film and the setting would be very fun and it would be a huge learning opportunity to learn to work with new areas and lightings.

Our final choice: After lots of thinking and discussion, we came along the conclusion that we wanted to go with pitch A. This was because the setting was more accessible to us and it would overall be safer for us to go into the beach setting. Additionally it would be so much of a better movie with better content to have two best friends on vacation chasing a drug dealer there’s a lot more backstory and there’s a lot more to insert into the two minutes that we have for our film.
